Research shows that when you sit down for a long period of time and then get up to walk around, pick something up, head to the gym, or move around a bit your core has lost it’s internal stability and as a result your spine is likely to be injured!
You know how people used to wear corset’s in the old days? Β Imagine that when you have your corset on it means your muscles are strong and stable and you are less likely to injure your back. Β When you take your corset off- AKA sit down for awhile and let all your muscles relax, then when you go to get up and move around and do something active your spine is not protected from your corset and you are very likely to be injured.
If you have been sitting on the couch all day, or at your desk, then before you hit the gym, go grocery shopping, or start playing around with your kids, try the spine series I show in this video. Β It’s going to get your body moving well again after sitting stiffly all day, but more importantly it’s going to ‘fire up’ your corset (core) muscles and prevent an injury.
