Winter 2016 Programs offered

  1. Specialized small group training programs

Small Group Targeted Personal Training

(4 people- 6-week program).

Friday’s 5-6 pm (Dates: January 22, 29th, Feb 12th, 19th, 26th, March 4th) *Skipping family day weekend

This small group personal training program is designed specifically to get you off to a great start to your 2016! The one-hour workout designed for 4 people will consist of a proper warm up, challenging workout combining cardio and strength, finishing with a proper cool down/foam roll/stretch. This program is specifically designed for those who can’t commit on an ongoing basis to private training, so take advantage! This is a Co-Ed class designed for intermediate level exercises.

Location: YWCA Health and Fitness Centre.

Cost: $186 for members ($31 per session) * an additional charge is applied for non-members.

Mobility Class for 4 people- 6-week program

**Top class pick for 2016

Tuesday nights from 5-6 pm (Dates: February 16th– March 22nd).

This small group mobility class is designed to enhance your regular exercise and sport performance by improving your body’s functionality. In the class we will work progressively through the body teaching you how to improve your range of motion through stretch, fascia release, and mobilizations. Every unique body has areas of tightness that should be mobilized regularly for injury prevention, better posture, and optimal performance. This class will help you figure out the daily maintenance your body requires to keep you pain and injury free!

Location: YWCA Health and Fitness Centre.

Cost: $ $186 for members ($31 per session) * an additional charge is applied for non members.

Ladies Only Small Group Weight Training Programs

WOMEN ON WEIGHTS! SMALL GROUP TRAINING (max. 8 ppl) 

Are you new to the weight room? Want to learn perfect form and technique for machines, free weights, and body weight exercises? This program is designed for women who haven’t been active with weights and want to learn all the fundamentals of lifting, as well as proper warm ups, cool downs, and foam rolling. Improve your posture, fitness, and build muscle in this ladies only weight training program!

February 16 – March 22 (6 classes)

WOMEN ON WEIGHTS! SMALL GROUP TRAINING LEVEL 2 (Max 8 ppl)

Are you comfortable on machines, free weights, and body weight exercises? Have you mastered your weight training program but want a leaner body, improved strength, and better whole body functional strength? In this advanced women’s only weight lifting program, you will learn compound lifts and advanced strength training exercises. Deadlifting, bench press, front and back squats, pull ups, rowing and pressing will be perfected. All ages of advanced weight lifters are welcome. Enquire with Katherine to see if you are a good fit for this class.

TRAINING FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Are you ready to find a sustainable way to lose weight and keep it off?  Long term strategies such as weight training, cardio, active living, and nutrition will be discussed in this one hour lecture.  Make this New Year’s resolution one that will work, and last!

ERGONOMICS FOR THE WORKPLACE

Properly setting up your workplace is crucial to preventing neck, wrist, low back, and other pain throughout the body.  Your seated position throughout the day and your level of movement has a direct correlation on your health.  Come learn simple solutions for workplace adjustments, better posture, and ways to stay active throughout the day while at work.

PS-  The photo is from when I taught 3 classes a day in Cuba earlier this year on a fitness vacation!  It was hard to get participants for the 430 pm aerobics class, because by then everyone had drank too many Pina Coladas.  Luckily I roped this group of guys into sweating with me for half an hour!
